Oscars. 1 word. Did we all see the Oscars?? On the night of Sunday February 26th, the 89th Academy Award Show took place. La La Land was leading the nominations, with a record of 14 nominations, followed by Manchester by the Sea, Moonlight, etc. All these movies were great, and each one of them won a major Oscar. La La Land won 6, including best actress and best director, Manchester by the Sea won 2/6 nominations one being for best actor, and Moonlight won 3/8 including Best Picture. Let's talk about the best picture award.
Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty a.k.a. Bonnie and Clyde, were to announce the Best Picture Oscar due to the 50th anniversary for the 1967 movie. The prior Oscar was given to Emma Stone, best actress, but as we learned, there is a duplicate of the envelopes. When they were about to announce the winners, Warren Beatty reads the envelope. Shows it to Faye Dunaway and reads “La la land”. Now, everyone cheers, everyone is happy, the producer and all the crew goes on stage, the second acceptance speech by the producer is given, and another envelope is brought on stage. The producer gets the envelope, and reads BEST PICTURE wasn't for them, it was for Moonlight. Confusion, Chaos. If you missed out and would like to see it:
